Ghost Town

Image
Before I get into this amazingly funny movie, I thought I'd show you a picture of Joshy~  he's had a fever but it's now gone and he's fast asleep.  I LOVE his rosy cheeks.  Even though they're fever induced.  *********************************** Trevor is out for the night with Scott and so I'm chillin' by my lonesome.  I made a cheesecake with out a beater (not fun)~ now I'm going to paint my nails,  do some highlights in my just-darkened-yesterday hair  and I'm watching Ghost Town.  Please do not take my suggestion and watch this movie;  I think it's hilarious but others may find it offensive.  Although everyone can appreciate a good gagging scene brought on by a dogs stinky breath.  And who doesn't love Kristen Wig?  And I personally LOVE Ricky Gervais.  Although he's a poor substitute for T-Bizzle-Pot-Pie.  AKA~ Trevor  (it's a nickname from work; don't ask me how he got it cause I have no clue) ...

Breaking News

Image
Tonight at approximately 6:00 p.m. Mountain Time, Emily Haslem prepared a delicious meal of Bean Soup and Corn Bread. After tasting this delectable dish, Stephen Haslem declared it "BRILLIANT", causing both his mom and dad to laugh in wonder at his ....... brilliance.  ******************************** The Haslem kids got off lucky tonight since neither their mother or father were watching the time very closely and did not put the kids to bed until past nine o'clock. The nightly ritual of reading before bed was forfeited. And only one little rascal complained of not being able to sleep. A quick "try your hardest" called out (not technically yelled) was the key to finally drifting off to dreamland.  *********************************** While enjoying and/or watching "Back To the Future II", Trevor Haslem fell quickly asleep proving to be both prophetic and exhausted, the latter having been mentioned earlier in the evening. Since there was no one cons...

Christmas

Image
We had a wonderful Christmas; as evidenced by this group of pictures.   This ones for you Chelsey. No worries George went back to normal.  Eventually.  We spent a lot of time reading  and sitting around.  We  loved having  Grandma Haslem here!  Joshy winking.  On accident.

What can I say?

Image
They are adorable.... ************************************* It's 12:53 and I've been up finishing some Christmas projects. Believe it or not, I'm not even tired.  And we had a great night tonight.  A really great night.  Good night.

Do NOT come over here...

Unless you want your nose to burn for the next week.... it may be a bit TMI but these kiddies have been stinkin like nobody's business....I can't figure out the culprit either. Bread? Soup? Sandwich? Hot chocolate?  None of those say stinky to me. We had the fortunate/unfortunate timing of having our neighbors drop by for a few minutes. Fortunate because they brought some delicious cookies which meant I no longer had to make a FHE treat.  Unfortunate because they had to be prey to the stink that is my house right now.  I'm sure that as they left, it was their biggest topic of discussion next to having to look at our big basket of whites sitting out in plain view (I'm only kind-of kidding). You don't even want to know how the boys bath went.  Let's just say that we had to drain the water and give them a shower.  And one more thing. I mopped the kitchen to a pristine shine today and milk has since been spilled twice on it. First time, I was calm ...

True story....

find the article  here .   (click on "here" or just read below) A 44-year-old mom, her son, and her daughter-in-law were enjoying a nice family drunk-a-thon in Las Cruces, New Mexico. But as so often happens during these kinds of festive family occasions, someone decided to spoil all the fun. Mom started arguing with her son... It became quite ferocious, so the daughter-in-law stepped between them. (Sorry, we don't have any names yet for the fine family involved in this story.)   That's when mom, being something of a weirdo and quite possibly a pervert, grabbed her daughter-in-law's nipple and began squeezing and pulling on it. She had apparently chosen the Titty Twister mode of attack, made popular in frats and middle school gym classes around the country.   But the 30-year-old daughter-in-law was not about to take this assault lying down. She began punching mom in the face, then threw her into the yard. Mom, no shrinking violet in her own right, reeme...

Just an ordinary afternoon

Emily used my phone to take random pictures of everyone.  Emily=self portrait Annabelle= definitely posing Stephen=reading Captain Underpants Joshua=probably throwing a fit. Either that or he just doesn't want his picture taken.  It's most likely a fit.

Is there anything better

Image
than two freshly bathed, previously stinky, boys?

You may think this is funny, you may not.

Trevor and I thought it was very funny... Joshua peed on his face. He really did. He was in the process of peeing in his pants, dancing around, trying to pull his pants down and flipped the whole thing into his face.  I thought he said he peed on his feet and I say "well of course you did" and he says, "no my FACE" and sure enough, I look up, and see the drips, right in between his eyes.  Let me share with you our (meaning me and trevors) texts: me: I forgot to tell you~joshua peed on his face.  trevor: huh? how did that happen? me: he had to go really bad and as he was peeing his pants he was also pulling them down which I think made his penis flip up and squirt pee on his face. it was beyond funny..... trevor: I can't stop laughing. thats hilarious.  Maybe you think it's funny or maybe you think we just have a really bad sense of humor.... Either way, we had a really good laugh.  And just so you know, I quickly, very quickly,  washed his face....

For those with the Haslem "Hamburger Bun" recipe

Image
I use to make these a lot and in time just ended up forgetting about them. Well, SHAME ON ME! and shame on you if you've forgotten about them also.  Just to prove how much I use to make these, here's a photo of my recipe card.  (I generally halve the recipe) Last night while making dinner, I realized I didn't have enough milk to make Stacie's roll recipe (equally yummy).  So I got out my cookbook and made hamburger buns instead. (don't let the name fool you; they taste nothing like the cheap hamburger buns you buy at the store; these are infinitely better) Anyways, the reason for this post.... I made these rolls, but made them with ham and cheese and grilled them. Sounds genius, right? It was.  I put a slice of mozzarella on each side of a split bun with ham in the middle. Then I put them on a hot griddle and flattened them a bit and let them brown on each side until the cheese melted.  I didn't need to butter each side before grilling s...

I am in a GOOD mood....

There are blue skys, at least a sliver or so, Scott and Jenee will be here today, it is relatively warm outside (reminding me of spring) and Jason Mraz was playing when I got in the car this morning. No matter that my kids were 10 minutes late to school or that we had to sit in the car for ten minutes waiting for the window to defrost. Or that the string cheese I"m eating has a funny taste to it.  Today is a great day. ************************** Last night, Trevor and I  watched "Dan In Real Life", one of our favorites. Then, more than ever, were we reminded of our girls while watching it.  Emily=Jane Annabelle=Kara.  If you don't know what I'm talking about, you'll just have to watch the movie.  (this is the picture taken right after decorating the tree, back when it was green)  (yes, we have tinsel  on our tree) "This corn is an angel"  "I don't want to go with the pig face!" "You are a MURDERER of LOVE!" I think...

I promised and I deliver.....

Pictures of the kids... Visiting Santa.  Unfortunately I was not there since I had a Relief Society lesson to prepare~~~~ I know, can you believe that I have to teach Relief Society?  I never have a day in my life.  I'm so nervous. So, so nervous..... Trevor dared Emily to pull Santas beard but she wouldn't do it.  She also didn't want Trevor to take pictures but he had too since I wasn't there... I'm just really happy that we are over the screaming and crying when we see Santa. Never again will we have to deal with that.  What the kids want for Christmas 2010: *Emily wants a sewing machine and new bedding-turquoise. *Annabelle wants an art kit and new bedding- turquoise also.  *Stephen wants a rip-stick and a skateboard. *Joshua can't remember what he wants. They may not want a lot but it works for us (our rule is two gifts each Christmas). Everyone is always happy Christmas morning and it really helps us not focus so much on the gif...

Day 30 a photo of myself today and 3 things I have learned....

Image
Yes, I am vain enough to spend a few minutes editing a photo of myself.  If you saw the original, you'd thank me for it.  That's me yesterday. Believe it or not, I look better there than I do now.  Let's move on.  3 things I've learned in the last 30 days: 1. I'm not the only one who brushes their teeth with warm/hot water. Cold water hurts my teeth, even to drink it. I'm "this close" to being British.    2. I don't like facebook and no longer have an account. It was a big time waster for me. Too many people that were my "friends" that I didn't even really know. Not that I didn't care about them but there are things that need attending to in my life. Like Joshua. Instead of being on facebook I could be playing geo tracks with him and eating pretend food and making peanut butter cups.  Which is what we've been doing. 3. I need to start getting to bed earlier. Headaches, dizziness~ I think my sleep deprivation is starting to ...

Something I could never get tired of doing. Day 29

Image
Day Dreaming. I"m always doing it. Especially in the shower or while I do the dishes. I dream about everything. Anything in the future, from conversations I want to have with others (you know you do it too), what I"m going to do when Joshua is in school, what I want my house to look like presently and in a future house, what my kids will be like when they grow up, traveling (like going to England~ a huge dream)..... I generally don't tell people about it cause then they'd think I was weird. I'd hate to give them the wrong impression of me. :)    I could never get tired of it probably cause I don't even think about it till I have to write down something I could never get tired of doing. And my first choice just wouldn't be appropriate.  Here's a cute video of Joshua in the car on Saturday. If you listen closely, you can hear me singing in the background for a minute. You'll be amazed at what a good singer I am. I almost sound like Jason Aldean.  ...

From our house to yours.....

Merry Christmas! (I know Joshua is missing but he fell asleep early. Sad, huh?)

my favorite movie, day 28

Image
Like most things, I can't pick just one.  So I put three of my TOP favorite movies.  Numero Uno: Penelope I love everything about this movie, from the storyline to the acting and all the beautiful colors~like in Penelopes bedroom~ and the clothes. Oh! The clothes!! If I dressed like her in real life, I would be beyond happy.  Of course, I wouldn't wear the scarf around my face since I don't have a pig nose, but if I did...... Number 2: The Count of Monte Cristo This movie is fantastic. I think I have watched it at least 10 times (that's a very modest guess). My first copy was broken by one of my sweet children (grrr) but my mom quickly replaced it for me.  My favorite part of the movie is when Mercedes and Edmond reunite: Edmond: If you ever loved me, don't rob me of my hate, it's all I have. Mercedes: Let it go Edmond. I don't know what dark plan lies within you, nor do I know by what design we were asked to live without each other these past 16 years...

A photo of me last year and one now and how I've changed since then. Day 27

Image
Nothing looks different from last year and this year. My hair is a little longer and as of right now I have a lot of regrowth that needs desperately to be colored. I'm 29 in this picture.  And 30 in this one.  (thanksgiving day) I like to think that while there may be no physical change,  I'm more mature, wiser, kinder, more patient and a better wife and mother.  I'm definitely more secure in life even though it's always changing. Ehhhh, who knows.  I do know that I'm happy and I try to be good and that's enough.

A photo of somewhere I've been.

2006 Denver Zoo We went on a huge road trip, about 2600 miles, trying to decide what college Trevor wanted to go to for his Masters.  We went from St. George to Pocatello, up to Missuola,  then down to Denver and then to Amarillo and finally up through New Mexico and Arizona.  We had a ton of fun seeing all the different places and  our kids were so good, the whole trip.  We were crammed in a tiny Chevy Malibu with 3 carseats in the back seat.  We were cozy and happy.  It was a very memorable trip.  And Trevor ended up deciding on Pocatello,  actually the Lord directed us where to go and it was a wonderful place.  He's halfway done, only one year left and now that we're in  Idaho Falls, he can finish at the same college he started with.  That trip has taken us to many different places,  Pocatello, Boise, Meridian and  now in Idaho Falls. We love road trips.
