Stephen wants to be like Justin Beiber...

Image
Not Trevor's proudest moment as a dad but it could  be worse, right?  Every time steveo gets on Kidzui   (you should check out this link if you have kids.. it is amazing and my kids love it!) he wants to look up all Of Justin's videos and then he practices his break-dancing.  (I was taking pictures while laying on my bed watching Stephen "practice") Today, he did flips in his room. He would jump on the wall with both feet, land on his back  and then flip over onto his feet. All while staying on the bed. Most of the time. There was a time or two that he flipped off the bed and landed on his desk.  That's just how we roll in this house.  We like to jump on our beds and be silly and take funny pictures: (Josh and I laying on my bed waiting for daddy to get home) Now the Apprentice is on and it's just a show we absolutely cannot miss! I think it's a rule that you have to watch it when you have a Business Degree.  But...

So I should be taking care of this: But instead I'm sitting here showing you this: Joshua eating lunch. Fascinating, I know. It gets better. Now he's embarrassed. Told you it would get better, right?  Adorable.  Want to know what else is adorable? Love letters from my children.  Just a little note makes everything in the world right.  I genuinely, truly, completely love my babies.

Proof that we had a good time:

Self Portraits.... Beautiful sky, crazy eyes, and some really nasty feet.  After a good soak in the tub and our bedtime routine (i love our bedtime routine) we were good as new;  feet were clean and eyes were back to normal. :)  And we had a really great time.  8:00 and it was already dark.  I think fall is coming.  At least here in Idaho.  That may not be the case in California. Just to be sure that fall is coming, I made sure to boil some cinnamon sticks and nutmeg today.  Made my house smell like I was baking. Even though I wasn't (sigh).  I love to bake holiday food.  Especiall y pies and brownies and ginger bars  and brownies and candy and brownies.

A sad day....

Image
As I was leaving Candice's apartment today, she anxiously pointed out smoke coming from another building in her complex.  There was a major fire.  Six fire trucks ended up showing up and 6 apartments were ruined. It was really sad to see this crisis develop right before our eyes. A lady came home to see her home ruined and could only ask about her poor dog who died in the fire. It was really heartbreaking.  It was amazing to see the police and firefighters show up and do their job and to do it so well.  A policeman came up to Joshua and asked if he wanted to be a firefighter now. And of course, he said yes. But just to be safe, I replied "or a Policeman".  At first Joshua was very nervous to see all the commotion and all the smoke (and at times flames) coming out of the windows but once all calmed down, he was just fine.  My respect and admiration has really increased for these people who risk their lives for others every...

Annabelle's bored

Image
For good reason too. Emily is at a sleepover (but I'm going to pick her up in about 20 minutes since we only do late nights~ lame, I know...) Anyway, while Candice and I dyed, fixed, dyed hair this afternoon, she sat at the counter. Bored. Poor thing. And tonight she couldn't sleep. I'm pretty sure that those two young girls haven't spent a night without each other that they can ever remember.  But back to the dye, fix, dye~thing I mentioned. Something completely textbook, touching up roots, ended up being completely botched up. We cannot figure it out since it happened to both me and Candice with the same exact tube of color (and the same exact color I've been doing for a full year~at least). I blame it on the color. but you can make your own assumptions. Now just may be the time my hair goes dark.  Now is the time I don't really want to go dark.  Candice's hair turned out great (eventually, might I add) but mine not so much.  It's late so it'...

My funny, silly kids....

Image
(eating dinner~ i bought a frozen pizza(??????)and  guiltily made a salad.) Kids say the darndest things..... Like tonight when Emily informed me that when she sweats her armpits stink. (she used more colorful language but I don't want to embarrass her~ colorful, like more expression, no swearing. I thought maybe that could confuse you...) I/We, of course, knew that her armpits stink when she sweats but it's good that she's becoming aware of it.  Have I said before that she is growing up waaaaay too fast?

Bounty

Image
See that bowl of tomatoes? That there is going to be Trevors homemade salsa which he makes every Sunday morning and I eat throughout the whole week. I put it on eggs, cottage cheese, salad, oven fried chicken.  It is amazingly good.  As I was collecting my gardens bounty, this little guy was hiding in my zucchini plant right where I stuck my hand in to pick a zucchini. It wasn't too bad. As I get older, bugs and spiders scare me less and less. Anyway..... Josh and I named him Frank. We get really creative with our names. On Monday, we had a grasshopper that came visiting our window and we named him Bob.  I think Josh has a secret naming talent.  But today was a productive day. I held Scouts this afternoon and made brownies with them, made my girls a couple of new headbands, painted and dressed up my lamp in my room, put away all the laundry, bathed two little boys, and updated this here blog. Whew, I'm tired and going to bed.  Trevors waiting...

Ice blocking

Image
Asa didn't actually ice block... But it's obvious that Trevor did and took a few tumbles too.  Only one raspberry and a bloody elbow. Typical Annabelle~ love it! I was a bit of a pooper tonight. I wore the wrong shoes and was feeling a little (maybe a lot) nervous.  It's always so much fun hanging out with these peeps: Thank you, Lisa, for introducing us to world of "Boise" ice blocking, where it's perfectly legal and fun~ Beautiful sky, a huge American flag flapping in the wind, and a big block of melting ice; Who could ask for more?

Ice Cream for Family Home Evening....

Image
And it was good!  Even Trevor and I had some.  It was pure heaven. Especially after going about 3 weeks without any at all. We walked there and on the way home, I just kept feeding him the ice cream. You'd think he was big enough to feed himself but no....he IS only 30 years old.... (he may or may not have gotten a few more bites than I did- i didn't keep very good track :) )

Hope your Monday isn't starting out like this:

Our's isn't cause this picture was taken on Saturday, not today. But so far I've gone to Fred Meyer, cleaned up spilled Nerds-twice, slept in till 8:00, updated my calendar, done the dishes and still have not showered and it's what? 10:04 a.m .   I had better get my behind, behind me and not sitting on this here chair.  Later taters.

How can I not??

Image
Share these photos, I mean.  Cafe Rio was everything we expected. Alas,  he did not enjoy his quesadilla.(crazy boy) Here's proof: He's crying/whining. He wanted the peppermint candy more.  How can you cry at Cafe Rio except for tears of happiness? Okay, so I look a little TOO excited but it was really good. Really, really good.  We got a free dessert , We got a free dessert! Only half of it got eaten... by this guy: Us girls didn't eat it cause it WAS only 10:30 in the morning and who eats dessert in the morning?  Okay~  So I would've except for the no/low carb thing we're doing. I don't think that would have met the under  "15 carbs a day" rule.  It's so nice to have Cafe Rio just a  hop, skip and a jump away again.  I love the food but what I love more is the many memories  that come with the place. It reminds me of you, my dear family. I LOVE YOU ALL.

I'm so tired of flies.....

Image
It's either the weather or it's all the great food we've been having around here cause they won't leave us alone  (it could also be that there are 4 children who  constantly forget to shut the door) . OR   It could be food like this: Salmon cakes for breakfast... really good anytime of the day. Vanilla ice cream with homemade caramel.  And grilled chicken breasts.  Whats even better than grilled chicken breasts?  Putting that chicken on a salad with homegrown tomatoes and pepper-jack cheese and homemade salsa (thanks to Trev). Can I tell you a secret? Don't tell anyone but Joshua is wearing the same clothes today as he did yesterday... I know, I know bad mothering here but he fell asleep at 6:00 last night and with all the hustle and bustle in the morning, i just never got around to changing his clothes.  Phew. I'm so glad I got that off my chest.  And don't be jealous but tomorrow (fun Friday) Cafe Rio opens and me and Candice will ...

Kindness...

Image
I don't like Mcdonalds. I don't like their food, the play area (nasty), the bathrooms. But mostly the food.  So when I decided to go on a walk with Joshy today to the one that just opened up not to far from my house (3.5 miles there and back- it's actually kind of far) I knew I wouldn't be eating much and so figured that it wouldn't be too enjoyable.  I got a side salad, soda and an apple I brought from home. (yes, I am the lame-o that does that)  The food was as I expected, maybe a little better. But the people there were friendly and kind. Not necessarily the workers (I'm sure they are) but the diners. Just a few examples: A little boy dropped his ball under the table and neither the mom or another stranger who got up to help, wanted to get down and get it. No big deal for me so I did it.  One point for kindness. (i don't generally toot my own horn but there you go~ I just did) Joshua had to of course go to the bathroom. He always has to go to ...

From drab to fab....

Image
or something like that.  Here it is in all it's blue glory: And now we have a lovely Prairie Grass and Muddled Basil: IF one day we ever decide to sell, then hopefully it won't take forever. Like it did the last people selling a blue house.  And now just a fun picture: (no, that's not a ghost hand, it's joshys reflection  on steveos face.) And another one:   My boys are pretty dang awesome....

The house is done being painted.

Well, almost. And since it's an almost, there are no pictures of it yet. But here are some fun ones Candice took with her phone and it's new camera app. (I really should get me one of those Droids. Don't tell Quinn I said that) And we got some fun photos of us girls and boys. No men. They were busy painting, and we were sitting outside watching. He seriously just keeps getting cuter and cuter, right? Believe it or not, this was the most flattering picture taken of us.  And since the Fowler's helped us out so much we treated them to their favorite: Cabbage.  No, really. They love cabbage and now they've gotten us hooked on it too. Especially since we are no longer eating carbs. (Me and Trevor. the kids still get plenty.)  I will never go back to eating carbs the way I use to. I feel so much better. All the time. No stomach aches and no more bloating. It's wonderful . Anyway, to make it sound better, we had cabbage and chicken wi...

Two Dates

Image
One with Joshua (and candice and asa) for lunch on Friday and the other one tonight with Trevor. Heres some comparisons of the two dates:  Joshua ate none of his food and Trevor and I really enjoyed our steak.  Joshua doesn't yet know how to Bowl without the bumpers but Trevor beat me tonight without them by 6 points (that was out of two games so I didn't do too badly). Joshua didn't say too many sweet things to me except maybe thank you and hold my drink (that may not be too nice) and Trevor said many nice things to me.  My favorite was a conversation we had tonight. It's been a common conversation here in our house (and in many marriages, I believe, so it's not too personal to share here)  but it was sweet all the same. The conversation: Me: What if you ever stopped loving me?  Trevor: I won't ever stop loving you.  Me: But what if you did? Trevor: Well, I won't.  Me: Okay, but just pretend. What if you did? Trevor: Then I would t...

Pictures courtesy of Emily Delight....

It's just too bad she isn't in these pictures also. Just a little snippet of what we all were doing around 6:00 this evening. Annabelle getting into the craft box cause she needed stuff to finish her note to her best friend.  Stephen and Joshua were playing with tools. And it looks like caulk. Hmmmmmm, probably should have rethought that one. I was busy making dinner, cutting up some garlic. And apparently I stick my tongue out when doing so. Ha.  I'm really just glad that Joshua wasn't playing with the paint that was beside him. He did that once when he was one and I had to call poison control cause he ate it.  Apparently, water based paint is not harmful as long as they don't drink a ton of it.... But it was soooo harmful to my wood floors. I spent a lot of time cleaning that up.  Maybe one day I'll learn my lesson not to leave paint cans where children can get to them~
